Gillispie Wedding

As we head into the spring of 2021 we feel so hopeful that we are near the tail end of the Covid-19 pandemic. It feels like it’s the right time to share Allie and Hunter’s wedding day which was almost a year ago! Covid-19 changed many of their wedding plans, they ended up having a beautiful and intimate backyard ceremony and reception. We are so excited to share it with you!

Back Story

Allie always thought a backyard wedding fit her style. However, she had planned her wedding at a venue that had the capacity to seat her 200 guests. After all Ohio wedding venues shut down a month and a half before her big day she was left with the choice to either postpone her large venue wedding or downsize her event and host it at a personal property. Allie and Hunter were eager to get married, their priority was marriage and each other, not a grand wedding with hundreds of guests. Naturally, they settled on the small backyard wedding.

We had about 50 days to change all their wedding plans to fit her mom’s backyard. Luckily it was a beautifully landscaped yard with an outdoor bar, pool and fireplace. It was the perfect backyard for a wedding. We worked closely with Lasting Impressions Event Rentals to bring in a tent, flooring, tables, chairs, linens and more to create a wedding-like atmosphere. It was a lot of extra planning as we worked to understand many of the event restrictions that were in place. If we are being honest, there was some occasional panic. The whole pandemic changed much of how we do our work. Allie and Hunter were so gracious and were very understanding of the difficult circumstances. Together, we did a lot of brainstorming and were able to make it happen!

The Backyard Wedding

It rained everyday the week prior to Allie and Hunter’s wedding. Luckily the morning of their big day the sun awoke and dried up much of the damp ground. The wedding day hustle and bustle began as everyone got ready just inside the house. The ceremony took place underneath a small tent. Allie and Hunter shared their vows in front of a beautiful floral arch, full of color! After the ceremony the couple headed to the front yard where other loved ones lined the streets to show their love from afar.

The couple continued their night in the backyard with appetizers and beverages. Friends and family shared sweet words about the couple. Guests enjoyed themselves while Allie and Hunter danced poolside. Just when the pandemic felt the most scary, Allie and Hunter’s wedding brought so much joy. It was a long road navigating our first pandemic wedding, but watching the two of them celebrate their love despite the ongoing craziness brought such a sense of hope and normalcy. Finally, we are slowly returning to normal and feeling so excited for all of our upcoming 2021 weddings!
