Happy New Year, friends! I cannot believe that this is our end of the year (or beginning of the year, I guess) post! It felt like all fall season long I was gearing up for reflection & time for thankfulness over this past year. 2016 was our first full year of business, & it was our busiest, craziest year ever — and when I say ever, I guess I mean compared to 2015, ha! It was crazy and busy good. 2015 was our beginning, the year we started Events Held Dear, and our first year with lots of weddings along the way. 2016 was our first year diving head first and really feeling like we had a good handle on what we were doing and who we were as business owners. It felt like the year we took some risks and the year we were officially comfortable with what we had to offer.
Heading into a new year, it’s always easy to talk about how difficult the previous year had been, and that has especially been the case for 2016. It has definitely been one of our tougher years. But one thing I have always tried to do in my prayer life and personal life, is before asking for something, or complaining or wishing something turned out differently, I extend thanks. I believe so much can be changed in our own attitudes when we come from a heart of gratitude.
So with that, here are a few of our favorite moments from 2016! When I say a few – trust me. I mean A FEW. It was such a busy, amazing year and it’s always so hard to narrow down those moments for a blog post. But these are some of the best!
We did a styled shoot back in the late spring/early summer with the two photographers above, and we are just really thankful for them. Both of these ladies have turned into friends of ours, and they are extremely kind and talented. It’s just a huge blessing when vendors in the industry turn into friends, and making magic with them was high in our book. Plus, that picture with the boat covered in flowers by Petals & Leaves is one of my favorite images of the year!
One of the first styled shoots we dove into head-first was with Nicole Clarey back in the first few months of 2016. We went for a clean, minimal + white design with flowers that popped, and Heather of Evergreen Flower Co. really helped bring that vision to life. It’s one of my favorite shoots we’ve produced, and was featured on Style Me Pretty. Nicole and Heather are both preferred vendors of ours, too!
CHRISTIAN & KATIE
Our 2016 favorite moments post would not be complete without mentioning Katie and Christian’s wedding. At first, the thought of their wedding makes me sad, because it rained so. much. But the joy of their wedding day overcame the terrible weather. Katie was our first full-service planning bride, so she holds a special place in our hearts. She was the first bride we walked with all the way from her engagement to holding her dress as she walked through the doors and down the aisle. She also found us and hired us in such a fun way — ask me sometime, I’d love to tell you 😉

ALEX & MADDIE
Alex and Maddie are dear friends of ours. So when we got to assist Maddie in the planning and design process of her day, it wasn’t even like we were working. Just a beautiful day all in all, even though the Ohio rains of 2016 striked yet again! (Seriously, so many rainy weddings!) And when you’re working alongside your friend Leigh Elizabeth Photography, you know you’re going to have some beautiful photos to hold onto.
OUR FAVORITE FALL WEDDING
Even though we’re still waiting on receiving the photos from Kristen and Bryan’s day, we have a few that Heather of Evergreen Flower Co. was able to capture for us! These floral arrangements paired with the candle displays on their tables were my favorite of the year. I can’t wait to show you more!
RONALD & DANIELLE
Maybe one of my favorite couples of 2016. Their grace and compassion throughout the planning process, the wedding day, and just their personalities in general was the best. AND, they are one dang good lookin’ couple.

2016, you really were the best. For now. We have a great year of weddings ahead of us, and know that it’s only up from here. Thanks for all of the love and support, friends!
